Minimize Skin Scarring
Skin scars occur when the deep, thick layer of skin (the dermis) is damaged. Scars are areas of fibrous tissue that replace normal skin after injury. Scar tissue is not identical to the tissue which it replaces and is usually of inferior functional quality. Scar tissue can form on the skin or on internal wounds. People with conditions like liver cirrhosis, heart disease, and pancreatitis often have scar tissue on their liver, heart or pancreas. A scar is a natural part of the healing process. Larger spots may coalesce to form a broad band of dappling. A scar results from the biologic process of wound repair in the skin and other tissues of the body. Scars can also take the form of stretched skin. Most skin scars are flat, pale and leave a trace of the original injury which caused them. The redness that often follows an injury to the skin is not a scar, and is generally not permanent.
Scars form differently based on the location of the injury on the body and the age of the person who was injured. It has become a problem when old orchards are top worked, and the new is susceptible to the viroid that had been symptomless in the original cultivar. Two types of scars are the result of the body overproducing collagen, which causes the scar to be raised above the surrounding skin. Hypertrophic scars take the form of a red raised lump on the skin, but do not grow beyond the boundaries of the original wound, and they often improve in appearance after a few years. Keloid scars are a more serious form of scarring, because they can carry on growing indefinitely into a large, tumorous (although benign) growth.
Some people, especially those with deeper skin tones, have a tendency to produce prominent raised scars. Scars and stretch marks are generally considered unsightly, disfiguring and unacceptable by many people. No scar can ever be completely removed. Some treatment for scar minimizing scarring including do not wipe fresh wounds with hydrogen peroxide. The bubbles make is feel like something good is happening, but hydrogen peroxide actually destroys new skin cells that immediately begin to grow. Do cover a cut. The old wives tale about allowing a “fresh” cut to breathe will actually not support rapid healing. Do apply constant pressure on a fresh wound with a sterile bandage or silicone sheeting pad. Do not expose new scars to the sun.

Question from Borat: Is this vampire-esque story too much? Or is it alright?
(Following scene may be too much for younger audiences… It involves soldiers fighting vampires, and a conflict leading up to a very undetailed rape scene. Rated R… Don’t worry, not NC-17)
Raul unclicked a fresh magazine from his belt, and slid it into his SCAR. “Well, that takes care of that,” he muttered, looking across the yard at the fallen bodies of three of the Crimson Crypt gangmembers. He pressed the transmission button on his hand-held radio. “Randall, you copy?”
“Yeah, Raul. Go ahead.” The radio hissed back.
He pressed the button again. “Got three fresh kills.”
“Good. Very good. We got us a live one. You up for watching a ‘New member initiation’ right now?”
“Oh, hell, count me in Randall.”
“Good. Regroup out front of the church. Over and out.” The radio buzzed out. A sly smilel grew across Raul’s face, and he took to a fast run, off towards the center of the village where the upside down cross loomed.
“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls!” Randall yelled to the eight men gathering around a frail body on the ground. “Feast your eyes on the lone survivor!” He pointed his Glock 21 at the person lying on the ground. It wasn’t a simple, frail body, but a young woman, looking no older than twenty. “Connor, would you please step forward!”
Connor looked up at Randall. “What’s this about?” He looked down at ther girl, then back at his commanding officer.
“New recruit initiation, Private.” Randall said. Raul ran up to the group, and let out an exhausted cheer. The rest of the men joined in, with applause.
“What do you mean by that, Lt?” Connor asked, “wait. No.”
“Yes, private, you know you’re not a member of the team until you’ve given these raping, murdering basterds a taste of their own medicine.” Randall smiled.
Connor looked down at the woman, who was now looking at him, an ever-present fear in her eyes. “No. I know what you want me to do, and I don’t care if it’s an order, I won’t do it.”
Randall trained the sights on him. “Yes you will, private.”
“C’mon, Connor. Don’t be a bitsh,” Neil said.
Connor shook his head. “I’m not going to rape a vampire. She didn’t even do anything!” He shook his finger at her, “most of these people weren’t even Crimson Crypts!”
Most of the group laughed, with the exception of three soldiers; Kurtis, Neil, and Randall. “They’re vampires, man, guilty by association!” Neil exclaimed. “If you’re not going to treat her to their own deeds, I’ll kill ya.” Neil aimed his XM8 Carbine at him. “I mean it.”
“You’re African-American Neil, you should know what discrimination is, and this is no different!” Connor hissed.
“What the fuck do you mean by that, White Boy?” Neil hissed.
“Well, if you don’t do it, one of us will–and then we’ll kill her.” Raul smiled.
Connor shook his head, then looked at her again. It had been nearly weeks since he’d seen a woman who wasn’t hard-faced and trained to kill. This young woman, no older than he, was very attractive. He shook away the urge. “Why do you want me to do this?”
Randall started, “New member initiation…”
Connor cut him off. “I mean WHY. She isn’t one of the murderers.”
“What part of ‘guilty by association’ do you not understand?” Randall shook his head. “Now look, you’re a sweet kid, Connor, but I’m gonna tell you, you’re going to screw her, like it or not. Then, you can decide whether to kill her or not, it’s up to you, but I’d think that it’s better that way. Who knows, she might want you to come back for more.”
Connor shook his head. “You’re a sick man. Swear it to god that you won’t hurt her,” he paused, and yelled “ANY MORE,” he resumed his normal voice, “after this.”
Several of the soldiers cheered. “Go get her, Con man!”
Neil roughly shoved him into the ring, and he and Randall kept their guns aimed at him and the girl. “Have fun, boy.”
Connor began the process of unbuckling his equipment and stripping off his shirt, he didn’t look at the girl the entire time as he did. He just tossed his rifle in the dirt, his pistol belt and everything. He turned away from her. “Will you please take off your clothes?” he asked. She didn’t answer. “Please. They will kill you, and me, if we don’t do this.” He turned around, to see if she’d done anything. She sat with all of her clothes still on, staring at him. He couldn’t tell if it was a stare of impending hatred, or di
—disillusioned acceptance.
“Please.” He sat on his knees, trying to look as good as he could for her. I don’t want to do it either.”
“I will find you after this,” she said. “I swear it to whatever god you worship. I will find you.” She proceeded to strip down, and she laid down, for him.
He reluctantly assumed the position, and went about the business. They were both virgins.
