2 Sure-Fire Ways to Remove Acne Scars

2 Sure-Fire Ways To Remove Acne Scars

Acne is definitely not fair. First getting it as a teenager is hard enough but after years and years of treating them they can leave scars that serve as a constant daily reminder of the mental and emotional agony that we went through for all those years. Like I said, definitely not fair.

Now if your goal is to remove these scars, your first step is to make sure that you're reasonable in your expectations. Otherwise you'll end up frustrated and disappointed. Acne pimple marks do not go away just overnight.

If you've avoided picking and squeezing at your zits and pimples, then your pimples will most likely just turn into flat red marks which will heal within a few weeks. However some will become pitted scars that can take years to disappear.

What's heartbreaking is that certain types of acne, can lead to scars no matter what you do. This is particularly true of hormonal acne. So what can you do about these scars? The good news is that there is help out there.

2 Sure-Fire Scar Removal Methods

Laser Resurfacing

The first method used to remove those ugly pits and scars left over from a

bad case of teenage or young adult acne is called Laser Resurfacing. This method is the least expensive of the two acne scar removal methods I'm going to go over.

Laser resurfacing can be done in the office of a dermatologist rather than in a hospital this helps to

provide a great amount of savings.

How it works is a laser is used to remove the top layer of your skin. It also tightens the middle layer of skin. The dermatologist will use local anesthetic to make sure you don't feel any pain during the procedure.

It usually takes several days for the skin to heal after a laser resurfacing procedure is done and

often multiple treatments must be done to achieve the best results.

Dermabrasion

The second method to remove scarring left by acne left by acne is called dermabrasion.

This procedure uses a rotating wire brush to remove the top layer of skin. This causes the body to produce a new layer of skin which is smoother than the layer that was removed.

It usually takes between 10 days and 3 weeks for skin to heal after a dermabrasion treatment and there are often multiple treatments required.

Now these 2 methods can work wonders but they do cost money so the cost of treatment can add up. So the cheapest scar removal method is to never have the scars in the first place.

I know it can be very tempting to pick at your zits and pimples because many of us are taught that this makes them go away faster, but the momentary relief we get from popping pimples can mean that you are stuck with the scar. Keep this in mind the next time you want to pick at a pimple!
